The Sonoran Arts League is a non-profit 501(c), volunteer-based, arts service organization dedicated to actively advancing art, artists, and art education.

The Sonoran Arts League began in 1975 as an informal gathering of local artists who put on art shows under the Tamarisk groves in Cave Creek, Arizona. Today, our organization has grown to over 650 members from around the United States and Canada.

The Sonoran Arts League provides an environment where creative individuals with similar values, interests, and goals form an alliance that benefits their work and support the community through educational programs. The League is comprised of more than 650 art enthusiasts—95% are artists practicing in multiple disciplines: sculptors, painters, potters, weavers, sketchers, jewelers and artists who create with glass, batik, mosaic, gourds, pastel, pencil and photography- nearly every artistic medium known.

Our Mission
To give to our community by promoting art, artists, and art education through leadership and service in the belief that an artistic awareness is essential to the well-being of life and our community.

Our Vision
To be a premier art organization that supports and serves our community by nurturing a culture of creativity through education, events, and activities that connect the arts to the human spirit.

Our members actively participate in community outreach programs, youth mentoring and art education, as well as free veteran art classes. The League produces several events, such as the annual Hidden in The Hills Artist Studio Tour and Sale, Sonoran Small Works Art Show, Sonoran Festival of Art, April for the Arts, Holiday Artisan Markets, and also partners with the Foothills Food Bank on the annual Empty Bowls Project each fall.

With a special focus on mentoring youth, the League fosters artistic growth in the following ways: Youth Art  Scholarships and contests, incentive awards, art experiences and resources, and the Foothills Art Academy (partnering with ECS, a division of Cave Creek Unified School District in bringing community art classes in a variety of mediums for children and adults).

The League teams with The Boulders Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona to bring the public an exceptional collection of artwork, art demonstrations, artists-in-residence, and art events – all in one beautiful place, “The Gallery at el Pedregal”.  The Gallery offers a rotating collection of one-of-a-kind juried works by League artists, art workshops for all ages and skill levels, artists-in-residence, youth art and veteran exhibits, and other art events throughout the year. (34505 N. Scottsdale Road, second floor) The Gallery is open daily, 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
