The Sonoran Arts League is a non-profit 501(c)(3), volunteer-based, arts service organization dedicated to actively advancing art, artists, and art education. The League began in 1975 as an informal gathering of local artists who put on art shows under the Tamarisk groves in Cave Creek, Arizona. Today, our organization has grown to over 750 members from around the United States and Canada. The Sonoran Arts League provides an environment where creative individuals with similar values, interests, and goals form an alliance that benefits their work and support the community through educational programs. The League is comprised of art enthusiasts—95% are artists practicing in multiple disciplines: sculptors, painters, potters, weavers, sketchers, jewelers and artists who create with glass, batik, mosaic, gourds, pastel, pencil and photography- nearly every artistic medium known.
To give to our community by promoting art, artists, and art education through leadership and service in the belief that an artistic awareness is essential to the well-being of life and our community.
To be a premier art organization that supports and serves our community by nurturing a culture of creativity through education, events, and activities that connect the arts to the human spirit.
Our Service Enterprise Vision:
To create a team of diverse and empowered volunteers through effective leadership and engagement of members and community partners to advance the Sonoran Arts League's mission and supports a culture of CREATIVITY.
Our VOLUNTEER members actively participate in community outreach programs, youth mentoring and art education, as well as free veteran art programs and extra special art programs. The League produces several events, such as the annual Hidden in The Hills Artist Studio Tour and Sale, Sonoran Small Works Art Show, Sonoran Festival of Art, April for the Arts, Holiday Artisan Markets, and also partners with the Foothills Food Bank on the annual Empty Bowls Project.
The League teams with The Boulders Resort in Scottsdale, Arizona to bring the public an exceptional collection of artwork, art demonstrations, artists-in-residence, and art events – all in one beautiful place, “The Gallery at el Pedregal”. The Gallery offers a rotating collection of one-of-a-kind juried works by League artists, monthly art parties, artists-in-residence, youth art and veteran exhibits, and other art events throughout the year. (34505 N. Scottsdale Road, second floor) The Gallery is open Wednesday- Sunday, 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. (Fri 1-8)
